There must be even small improvements that could be made to alleviate some of the problems. For example, when I last used the A303 in June, a van heading east had run into the back of another vehicle on the single carriageway part. It was tight against the verge but was still partially blocking the eastbound lane. This caused miles of tailbacks for eastbound traffic on a weekday mid-morning (not a Friday evening or a Bank Holiday Saturday morning) and significant delays for westbound traffic. If we could only try to keep the traffic moving that would help. How about making the road a bit wider and enforcing a strict 40mph limit to help reduce noise and pollution? I do understand that fast dual carriageways may merely move the problem to the next bottleneck and encourage more traffic but the existing roundabout to the west and the traffic lights to the east should help as safety valves to control the traffic flow.

it is obvious that a dual carriageway i9s all that is required.
A tunnel suggestion has been wrong right from the start. n one knows what Stonehenge was for it was probably built by slaves, and World Heritage sites encourage tourist travel. S in all it is very good news.
