HS2 Ltd has released its HS2 Corporate Plan 2022 to 2026, providing an overview of its goals for High Speed 2 (HS2) beyond the mid-decade mark.

High Speed 2 (HS2) is due to begin the deck construction of a 450m long viaduct in Buckinghamshire as the first of 38 steel beams for the low carbon structure have arrived on site.

Engineers have started assembling High Speed 2’s (HS2’s) Thame Valley Viaduct, which is the first major rail viaduct in the UK to have been manufactured off-site.

Two out of the four main contractor joint ventures (JVs) working on HS2 Phase 1, London to Birmingham, lack “sufficient capability to manage all the various obligations placed upon them”, according to a leaked internal review document.

Assurance tests are being carried out on the installed pre-cast sections of HS2’s Chipping Warden tunnel following the identification of quality issues.

Work has begun on HS2’s carbon cutting Wendover Dean viaduct in Buckinghamshire, with contractors EKFB (a JV of Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and Bam Nuttall) sinking the first of the 53 concrete piles that will form the foundations.
