Plans to build a garden village on the edge of Carlisle will be given a significant boost when the city’s new southern link road is completed next year.

Buckbarrow Bridge is to be demolished within months by Metcalfe Plant Hire on behalf of Cumberland Council after the council said structural concerns led to its closure in August 2023.
